Accessibility statement
Hislop Business Solutions Limited wants everyone to be able to use this website, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use. This statement explains how accessible the site is, what has been done to make it so, and how to tell us if something is not working for you.
Our aim
The site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at level AA. That means you should be able to:
- Navigate the whole site with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator at every step and a “skip to content” link at the top of each page.
- Zoom to at least 200% and use the site on a phone, tablet or desktop without content being cut off or overlapping.
- Read text with good contrast against its background, and resize it using your browser settings.
- Use a screen reader to move through headings, landmarks, links and form fields with meaningful names and labels.
- Turn off animation: if your device’s “reduce motion” setting is on, the site’s transitions and animations are disabled.
- Fill in the contact and newsletter forms with clear labels, error messages linked to the fields concerned, and no time limits.
How the site was tested
Every page type (home, service, area and sector pages, blog index and articles, FAQs, endorsements, contact, search results, legal pages and the “page not found” page) was checked with automated accessibility testing (axe-core, WCAG 2.2 AA rules) at eleven screen widths from 320 to 1920 pixels, with no violations reported, and by hand with a keyboard, including the navigation menus, the mobile menu, the FAQ accordions, the cookie settings and both forms. The site was also checked with reduced-motion settings and with JavaScript switched off, in which case all content remains available.
Things that may not be fully accessible
- The map on the contact page is provided by Google and only loads if you accept optional cookies. Google’s map controls are outside our control; the address, opening hours and a “get directions” link are provided as text alongside it.
- Some older blog images are stock photographs with brief alternative text. We are replacing them with our own photographs and improving the descriptions as we go.
- Links to third-party sites, such as the AAT directory and social media, lead to pages we do not control.
- Files you attach to the contact form, and documents we exchange with clients, may not be accessible formats. Tell us if you need information in a different format and we will provide it.
Tell us if something is not working
If you find a page difficult to use, cannot access something, or would like information in another format such as large print or plain text by email, please get in touch and we will sort it out:
- Email michelle@hislopbusinesssolutions.co.uk
- Call or text 07510 914616
- Write to Hislop Business Solutions Limited, 119 John Street, Larkhall, South Lanarkshire ML9 2EU
We will reply as quickly as we can and aim to fix genuine accessibility problems promptly. If you are not satisfied with our response, the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) can advise you on your rights under the Equality Act 2010.
